I first discovered Towri Sheep Cheeses in Allenview in the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland back in 2015 on a bus tour and have been following them ever since.
Back in 2015 we saw the milking, had a lovely morning tea (where one of the sheep wandered over and joined us, so they’re definitely free range) then saw some cheese making. It was a really interesting and fun visit.
At Towri, they have recently started Towri Wine Time, a live video presentation at 5pm on Mondays on Instagram where they talk about their cheese, events they have coming up and other local producers.
Some of the events they have coming up are:
• their regular open day on 7 August 2021 (these are held on the first Saturday of every month); and
• their Farmers Market on 12 September.
They also hold cheese making workshops for anyone who is interested. You can book for yourself or a group. Contact them for pricing and bookings.
Bus Tours are welcome from Monday to Friday. Simply contact them for details and to arrange the visit. Please give them at least 24 hours notice.
Some of the producers they have recently showcased have been:
Mason Wines has a restaurant, a cellar door and accommodation. They also cater for weddings.
O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat and Vineyard
O’Reilly’s has a cellar door, accommodation, a day spa and activities such as guided rainforest tours.
Oakey Creek Farm
They grow garlic, ginger, turmeric, chilli and lime. They sell garlic granules, garlic and salt rubs.
Scenic Rim Farm Box
They sell local scenic produce and deliver it to your home.
On Episode 25 of Towri Wine Time on Instagram the Towri Ladies also discussed the benefits of sheep milk cheese. You can find the details of sheep milk cheese on their website too.
Towri Sheep Cheese is a great local Australian producer who well worth following and visiting. Make sure to have a look at other producers of the Scenic Rim as well.
Hang in there, you’ve got this. Stay safe.
Meander and Enjoy…
